 Hi!

 This is fine for me on a freshly installed and upgraded Archlinux
 VirtualBox VM, with IceWM and pidgin freshly installed. ik_5 : please try
 to see if you can reproduce it with a new Unix user account, and if not
 investigate which of the opened files (using strace -e open pidgin )
 causes this problem.

 I should note that trying to reproduce a problem on a new Unix account is
 a due-diligence I learnt when reporting and triaging Mandriva bugs.
