 I upgraded from 2.6.6 to 2.7.1 and have the same issue, please see log
 file. Pidgin 2.6.6 logged into Yahoo fine.

 I'm behind a proxy with Tools -> Preferences -> Proxy: "No Proxy"
 selected, this has worked without issue for many years.

 Distribution: Gentoo

 What else can we do to track down the bug?
