Comment:

 Pidgin 2.7.1 on a friends XP machine (on both my account and his) receives
 MSN email notifications perfectly fine.

 I'm closing this ticket as "Invalid" since the issue is clearly something
 to do with my machine's at home and NOT msn/pidgin itself.

 I apologise for this ticket.
