 Hi,

very often it comes to the situation where i have a guest sitting at my
computer who wants to use my pidgin to "check" for new messages on his
messenger account(s). If he now deactivates my accounts, adds his own one
and after he's done his work, deactivates his and activates mine again,
the buddy list may contain some of his buddy groups or may be altered in
another way. His logs are also stored on my computer per default. The way
to log in as a "guest" isn't a nice way either.

To avoid such problems i suggest a "guest mode": Once activated, the guest
enters his temporary account information and gets logged in (like the
"private session" in firefox). Once he's done, he quits this mode and my
own accounts get logged in again. To symbolize the guest mode, for example
the status icon could be a special icon, or the buddy list could be
highlighted with a light background color, or a hint box between menu and
buddy list could appear (labeled with "Guest mode" and button "Quit")...

For security reasons, a password could be requested to restore to normal
mode (but imho this would not make any sense if the guest can just quit
 and restart pidgin...)
