 I have the same problem, the group invitations can only be seen via the
 website (home.live.com) or via the orginal Windows Live Messenger.

 Additional: The "Groups" are not shown in pidgin. They simply not appear
 in Pidgin.
 Version i use is: Pidgin 2.7.1 (libpurple 2.7.1).
