 Until this enhancement is implemented, I've decided to switch back to
 [http://code.google.com/p/pidgin-facebookchat/ pidgin-facebookchat] so I
 can have the facebook icon on the account instead of the XMPP icon. Now I
 can manually change the XMPP icon to a gmail icon, and I'm good.

 It's a workaround, so I'd rather be able to customize and use two XMPP
 accounts instead of a plugin, but <sigh>
