Comment:

 It's almost certainly GTK+ related; the 2.7.x releases have a newer GTK+
 runtime (2.16.6), which includes changes to the input handling on Windows.
 There isn't going to be much we can do about this.

 You're free to use the old GTK+ 2.14.7 version yourself by downloading it
 from
 [http://sourceforge.net/projects/pidgin/files/GTK%2B%20for%20Windows/2.14.7.0
 /gtk-runtime-2.14.7.0.zip/download here] and replacing the contents of the
 `<Pidgin Installation Directory>\Gtk` with the contents of that zip file.
