 I wonder if you have an old plugin DLL or something.

 Try uninstalling Pidgin (your accounts / preferences will not be lost).
 Then delete the Pidgin installation directory (`C:\Program Files\Pidgin`
 by default)
 Then delete/rename `%APPDATA%\.purple\plugins` if it exists.

 Once you've done that, try reinstalling Pidgin 2.7.1

 The missing Russian translation isn't anything you did wrong - as of 2.7.1
 we only include installer translations that are at least 50% complete
 (which the Russian translation is not)
