Comment:

 Are you getting an error in the conversation window about logging failing?
 Are you just not seeing the log files created? Do you not see the logs in
 the pidgin log viewer for the buddies? Have you checked that the logging
 preferences are still enabled in pidgin and that the per-conversation
 logging option is still enabled (Options->Enable Logging)?
