Comment:

 The debug log isn't likely to be relevant, just coincidentally what
 appears in the log when it is left alone with an XMPP account signed in.

 I think what you're seeing is caused by a firewall or security product
 (ZoneAlarm maybe?) that is causing the threads that Pidgin spawns for
 asynchronous network communication to not be closed properly and
 consequently resources get scarce.

 I suggest looking into any firewalls/security produces you have installed.
