Comment:

 No firewall, or other security installed except for windows built in
 firewall.  I'll turn it off and run pidgin again tomorrow with only my
 gmail account connected.  Are there any other methods of debugging this
 that you can think of?  Is there anything like gdb on windows I can
 install to attach to the pidgin process after it bugs out?  I've got
 access to Visual Studio through my school if need be, and I know how to
 install mingw if that's what pidgin uses to build. (I've looked into the
 process to build pidgin, but that was a long time ago and my memory is
 fuzzy).
