Comment:

 The Facebook XMPP service is read-only you cannot make changes to it, as
 such any changes you try to make get lost the next time you log in and the
 server feeds us new data. There's nothing we can do about this that
 wouldn't hurt consistency for cases where things work as normal.

 Unfortunately, we can't even really display a good error when the server
 says "No, you can't save that alias change" because it isn't something
 people expect to fail so they don't watch for it so either we silently
 switch it back (which just looks broken), we leave it for the session and
 revert it when we get data from the server next time (which also looks
 broken, hence this ticket), we display a pop up or dialog of some kind
 indicating the error (which is somewhat massive overkill for the severity
 of the problem), etc.
