 I've built a Cyrus SASL 2.1.24rc1 binary and attached it to this ticket.

 You should be able to extract it into your Pidgin installation directory,
 overwriting the previous version dlls.

 Please test if this prevents the issue you're seeing - I don't have a good
 way of validating that it fixes the issue.
