 This is a side-by-side screenshot of Pidgin and AIM Express (see the
 timestamps).  My friend, who is running a Verizon LG Envy, is using the
 built-in AIM service.  Only select messages sent by him are garbled, and
 all other buddies, as well as all his other devices (computer, iPod touch,
 AIM Express, etc) display messages as they are sent.
