 I think what the OP means is the name here:

 The account name displayed in this popup is fix: it's always "username@
 chat.facebook.com" but the OP wants to rename it to "Facebook" or
 something like this.

 What "Local Alias" does is to set the name in a chat window but this is
 ''not'' the account name (at least this is how I understand "Local
 Alias").

 Moreover there's still the point with the custom protocol icon. The buddy
 icon is ''not'' the protocol icon and it doesn't seem to show up in the
 buddy list or in the chat window. By allowing the user to specify a custom
 protocol icon, tickets like #11790 weren't "necessary".

 Just my two cents to this topic.
