Comment:

 The error NSS is returning is PR_END_OF_FILE_ERROR.

 Could one of you get a pcap (tcpdump) capture of this?  I'm looking to
 confirm that the server is, indeed, closing the connection (and how far
 through the SSL negotiation it gets)
