 I'd like to get a popup window
 (and maybe also have an alert sound go off) every time I receive an IM
 when finch is not in focus

 ideally something similar to notify.py
 (http://www.weechat.org/files/scripts/notify.py) for weechat (a script
 written in python)

 tried copying pidgin-libnotify.so/la/both to ~/.purple/plugins/ but finch
 reported segfault on startup

 also tried mumbles with no luck
