Comment:

What config files specifically are being overwritten at startup? Are you
copying the config files over existing files while pidgin is running?
pidgin will not notice that and will overwrite them at quit time.

I don't believe the behaviour of PURPLEHOME changed between 2.7.4 and
2.7.5 so I'm not sure what you could be seeing here exactly unless you
were using a much older version of pidgin (as I believe the behaviour of
PURPLEHOME did change some time ago).

As to the font change that is also not something that we will have changed
since we do not and have never specified any fonts by default, that will
be up to your GTK+ settings which are likely to have changed if you were
upgrading from an older version of pidgin also as there was a change to
how we installed/handled GTK+ recently. You can see some details about
this in the [Using%20Pidgin#win32_gtk_theme FAQ] but as that indicates
that change was made in 2.7.0.

If you download 2.7.4 and reinstall it do things go back to working the
way they were? If so can you get the debug output from both versions of
pidgin starting up (using the [TipsForBugReports#PreemptiveDebugLogging
 Preemptive method])?
