Comment:

 We do take status of resources into consideration; however, we also have
 to take into consideration the priority of each resource.  The Android
 Google Talk client seems to always use priority 24, even for away
 statuses, whereas other clients will choose different values (for example,
 Pidgin uses 1 for available and 0 for away).  What you're seeing is likely
 that the android client is at a higher priority than any other clients
 that are available.  Essentially, this is XMPP doing what it's supposed to
 do.
