Hi,
I am connecting to internet behind the proxy. Using Pidgin quite some
time and it is working great. However. recently i get some certificate
expired message(omega something...) using Pidgin 2.6.6 on my MSN messenger
account. So, i figured it could be the version of my Pidgin is timed and
therefore I upgrade to Pidgin 2.7.5.
After i installed Pidgin 2.7.5, the MSN certificate is gone but i saw my
Yahoo account kept on failing in connecting to the yahoo messenging
server. So, i check the yahoo account setting to look for any clues to fix
and found out that the pager server setting is gone compare to 2.6.6 . I
checked the release note and realize that it has been designed to remove
the setting. I suppose pidgin would be able to figure out what the setting
should be now.
Fortunately, i have 2.6.6 installer kept somewhere and and reinstall it
back to 2.6.6, the yahoo connection is gone but the MSN certificate
problem came back.
So, i suppose there is a bug in the Pidgin 2.7.5 Yahoo messenger module
where it would cause Yahoo account not to work correctly if the connection
is behind the proxy. I suppose this can be checked and compare against to
version 2.6.6 as why it would work in old ones and the new ones failed.
My hunch is that do not rely too much on the automatic account calibration
feature too much and leave more room for manual tweaking like disabling
the paging server setting is an example.
