 Ah, that would be a limitation of our support for the Google Talk
 "official" chatrooms then. If you and your friend want to talk one on one
 you don't need to use those, you can just IM normally. If you do want a
 chatroom you can use a room on any server that you both have access to in
 the normal Join a Chat/Tools->Room List fashion.

 I don't know whether we are allowed to support controllable usernames in
 the Google Talk chat rooms. I don't really know anything about them. If we
 are then it would be a reasonable thing to request that we allow it.
