 Recently connecting to Facebook via XMPP using Pidgin has been
 deteriorating, seemingly with each new version. I keep getting
 disconnected from Facebook's XMPP server, but with the current version of
 Pidgin, it never reconnects. Even if I disable and re-enable the account
 it will not reconnect. If I restart Pidgin, then I can reconnect, but
 after a few minutes I will disconnect again and have to restart Pidgin yet
 again. In older versions I swear it would reconnect more of the time, but
 I don't have older versions available to confirm this. If I dig out an old
 version and install it will it mess up my logs/settings/etc at all?

 My GMail XMPP account also gets frequent remote host closed the connection
 errors, but reconnects immediately, so I can live with that, leading me to
 wonder if Facebook's chat server is doing something weird Pidgin's XMPP
 code needs to account for.
