 Indeed, if the right sort of signals/etc. are in place it would be
 possible to write a plugin (perl or otherwise) to intercept the unhelpful
 dialog and create an alternative dialog instead. How easy that would be to
 do depends on a number of factors having to do with how the dialog
 interacts with pidgin/libpurple.
