 Apologies for not updating recently.

 What's probably more of an effective workaround would be a plugin that
 overrides all DNS queries so that they only get sent to the proxy. I can
 imagine certain situations where people wouldn't really mind if DNS is
 done away from the proxy as well as where they'd mind if it is. A plugin
 override could therefore provide control without having to go waist deep
 inside core and all prpl's for code checking. That'd offer a far more
 complete workaround than patching on one prpl.

 It was when I had this realisation that my quick and dirty hopes fell
 apart.

 Thoughts?
