New description:

 If I send message from pidgin client to some google talk user (GTU) using
 the gmail integrated gtalk web client and use the default pidgin formating
 {{{ctrl+b, ctrl+i, ...}}} on my text, the other side does not see the
 formatting at all.

 If I however use the inline codes instead it works correctly for the GTU:

   * {{{_italic_}}} for ''italic''
   * {{{-strike-}}} for ~~strike~~
