 Ok thanks! I know how to compile it, but I'm not sure how I can use it as
 a built-in program (as it is in Karmic), with automated updates and system
 preferences etc.
 I'm afraid I would end up using my compiled version dirtily put into my
 home folder, with no link to the system management whatsoever.
 Any help for that?
