 @DBDigital your fix doesn't work for me either. I logged into the icq site
 for the first time in years to make sure that "web aware" was unchecked.

 My icq number is around 10 years old. I think it was ''harvested'' when a
 friend's account was hijacked. The result is 5ish authorization
 requests/day.

 I've had a look at Bot Sentry http://sourceforge.net/projects/pidgin-bs/
 but the reviews say that it doesn't work for auth requests. Maybe this
 could be a path to getting a fix though; extend Bot Sentry to work for
 auth requests too?
