Comment:

 Have you checked your allow and block lists for each other (you need to
 check both to be safe). Tools->Privacy then select the msn account and
 select both "Allow Below" and "Block Below" and check the lists shown for
 each one. Make sure you have each other on only the allow lists and not
 both lists (I believe pidgin shouldn't be allowing that to happen anymore
 but checking just to be sure won't hurt).
