 Hi,
 From many versions of Pidgin (windows version), I have a strange display :

   - The current discussion is well encoded, for both messages from my
 contact or from me.

   - The archives of all discussions (and also the previous discussion
 displayed when opening a new "conversation" window) is bad displayed :
      - messages from my contacts are shown with bad encoding : small boxes
 with two numbers inside,
      - messages from me are readable and ok.

 It is the same with all my contacts, independently of their country (from
 France to Singapore) or their messenger software (MSN or Pidgin).

  - curiously, all file archive files (.htm files) in the folder
 C:\Documents and Settings\Propriétaire\Application
 Data\.purple\logs\msn\.... are well displayed for both message source,
 contact or me.

  - copy and paste in ansi or utf8 editor from archive discussion give
 always readable text for both messages.

  - we use pidgin on many computers, only mine show that. (Am I cursed?).
 File compare between computers (pidgin folder and "Doc. and
 settings/.../.purple" did not show anything valuable.


 I searched the net about encoding and pidgin, but I found only info about
 settings that seems to be obsolete.
