 I have to enable caps lock and then type the umlaut, because the shift key
 would result in:

 Shift + ä -> à
 Shift + ö -> é
 Shift + ü -> è

 with how GTK+ interprets that keyboard layout. It seems to simply not have
 upper case versions of those letters in the caps lock state. You should be
 able to use dead-umlaut + [AOU] to get the character(s) you need.

 Should I check in the GTK+ mailgroup for this issue? How do I use dead-
 umlaut in Windows?
