 That's honestly why I installed trillian to see if I liked it.  After I
 fixed it I uninstalled trillian, you don't need it to stay fixed. Install
 it, resize the input in trillian, after I did that I opened pidgin and saw
 it was fixed, closed trillian and uninstalled trillian, its still fine now
 even without trillian. The fact that installing pidgin fresh when I
 deleted my pref file didn't help suggests its a windows issue at least to
 me.
