 I discovered this XMPP feature implemented in gajim but can't find it in
 pidgin.

 You can "Send a custom status" to a user in your roster, that way you can
 be "Available" to most users and "Do-Not-Disturb" to others...

 This can be quite useful if you communicate with clients using xmpp and
 pidgin so that you can be available to your colleagues but not to your
 clients (or the other way around).
