 I was using Ubuntus and recently have changed to Linux Mint Debian, behind
 proxy of the dorm. With new versions of Pidgin, I can not connect to
 Yahoo, Gtalk and MSN. For Yahoo account, it said

 Unable to connect: Access denied: HTTP proxy server forbids port 5050
 tunneling
 }}}

 My global proxy setting was:
 {{{
 Use the same proxy for all protocols --> http proxy: proxy.xxx port 8080
 }}}
 and Use GNOME Proxy Settings

 With this setting, I had NO problem with Pidgin 2.7.1 (under Ubuntu) and
 2.7.3 (packed with LMDE Live CD).

 I updated to 2.7.11 by "mistake" and can not get back to the older version
 as the dependency perlapi-5.10.1 is not satisfied. I am now using perl-
 base-5.12.3.6 and it prevents me from installing the older one.

 Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
