 The issue here as best I understand it based on the explanations above is
 that the Yahoo! protocol itself has a seven second acknowledgement timer
 in it. If it does not receive the ack for a given message within seven
 seconds it automatically resends the message.

 I have no idea why pidgin would be unable to respond in that amount of
 time nor why it would seem (in at least some cases) to be sticky (once it
 happens it keeps happening) or any of the other minute details involved
 here.

 Help->Debug Window output (and possibly packet captures) from when this
 occurs are going to be the most helpful information at this point I would
 imagine.
