Comment:

 The base64-encoded string is 340 characters long.

 I forgot to mention that I accessed the url given by facebook and there I
 had to agree sending messages to another 3rd-party program. I did this and
 now pidgin is not crashing anymore (at least not for that buddy). I will
 try it again as soon as the other buddy I've had a crash with signs on
 again.

 pidgin itself does not seem to crash, but I could try to enable core dumps
 for pidgin as well with the other buddy. Is there an option for this or do
 I need a debug version of pidgin?

 I know that no program should ever crash X, but as this is clearly related
 to pidgin I thought it might be the best to submit the bug here first.
