 I know this is a quite old ticket but I am having repeated and often
 crashes of adium regarding libpurple and custom smiles:

 so I guess "purple_conv_custom_smiley_add" is to blame for this.
 The crash happen when using msn chats with multiple users (like the one
 offered by imgroups.net): all the custom smiles are not displayed and an
 empty image is displayed instead. Except that some times custom smiles
 fails to load at all causing the program to crash.
