 Hi.

 In pidgin bug #14992 I talk about how emoticon handling can be improved
 generally.

 In comment 2 I lay out what can be done to improve emoticon handling with
 native/legacy clients.


 Specifically for the above bug, but also in general, it would be useful if
 the text replacement pluging adds a flag, so that text can be replaced
 literally (i.e. that HTML code is not quoted).
