 Hi.

 In pidgin bug #14992 I talk about how emoticon handling can be improved
 generally.

 In comment 2 I lay out what can be done to improve emoticon handling with
 native/legacy clients.


 Specifically for the above bug, but also in general, if text inserted by
 the smiley selector (the small pop up window, that shows all the smileys)
 is subject to text replacement, especially by (but not limited to) the
 Text Replacement plugin (spellchk.so).
