 Leading to the XEP being updated like this:
 http://xmpp.org/extensions/diff/api/xep/0172/diff/1.0/vs/1.1rc1
 In other words, Google Talk's usage of nicknames has been removed from the
 standard, as it has the potential to be too confusing for clients. I'd
 suggest closing this ticket and asking Google to support proper nicknames.
