#14998: Pidgin 2.10.2 unavailable for Ubuntu via website or PPA
--------------------+-------------------------------------------------------
Reporter: TraceyC | Type: defect
Status: new | Component: pidgin (gtk)
Version: 2.10.2 | Keywords:
--------------------+-------------------------------------------------------
When I go to the Download page for Pidgin, I see "Pidgin 2.10.2 contains
two security updates. Please upgrade!" This version is not available,
however.
Steps to reproduce:
- Load http://pidgin.im/ on a Ubuntu box[[BR]]
- Click Download from the menu up top[[BR]]
- Observe the link is for "2.10.1 for Ubuntu"[[BR]]
- Clicking the link provides the instructions for setting up the PPA
rather than provide a download.[[BR]]
- The new version is not available via PPA either. I have the PPA set up
per those instructions. [[BR]]
{{{
$ pidgin -v

$ sudo apt-get install pidgin

pidgin is already the newest version.
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 1 not upgraded.
$ apt-cache show pidgin |grep Version
Version: 1:2.10.0-0ubuntu2
Version: 1:2.10.1-1ubuntu1+pidgin1.11.10
$ more /etc/apt/sources.list.d/pidgin-ppa.list
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/pidgin-developers/ppa/ubuntu oneiric main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/pidgin-developers/ppa/ubuntu oneiric main
}}}
Also, I wanted to note that the link for "1. Click to download the Pidgin
PPA package."
is broken - 404 not found
https://launchpad.net/~pidgin-developers/+archive/ppa/+files/pidgin-
ppa_0.0.6_all.deb
