 The bug happens on my Windows box too. The ignorance of backspace only
 occurs when I'm using Microsoft Pinyin IME. And the focus continues
 staying on the above area when I'm typing Chinese.

 When I switch to QQ IME, the bug behaves the same as if I was typing
 English.

 My OS is Windows Server 2008 R2, and My pidgin is 2.10.4, porable, Chinese
 version with compiling info as follows:
