 This may be some kind of feature, but if so I can't find it.  If a message
 being sent through the AIM gateway includes the characters "expression("
 in any case, then the message fails to send with no error.  These
 characters can be mixed with any other text at all as far as I can tell.
 I don't currently have an easy way of testing any other gateways so I
 don't know if this is AIM specific or not.
