 Got the same problem.
 It started two days ago.
 Pidgin has started complaining about "You missed ... messages from ...
 because they were too large." on every start.
 The same number of messages, the same contact (on icq).
 The contact claims he has not sent any big stuff recently.
 Closing by the "close" button has no effect.
