 There was some discussion of these patches in devel at c.p.i, and here's the
 status:

 The original patch referenced in the description is questionable because
 it makes all IPv6 listening sockets dual stack.

 The new patch needs a few tweaks to support compiling on systems without
 IPv6 support.
