 I'm attaching a new patch which uses Cyrus for SASL support, so if in the
 future servers start to support more mechanisms, or if someone writes a
 DH-BLOWFISH plugin for Cyrus, that should start working automatically. If
 Cyrus is not installed, the code will not change at all.

 The only thing to note, that I'm not 100% sure of, is that it completely
 replaces the {{{PASS}}} message, and uses the password from the same field
 for SASL authentication. If there are servers out there that require both
 a server-password and SASL authentication, then they won't work currently.
 The lack of a proper specification of this protocol makes it hard to rule
 out if this is possible...
