 I don't know much about how pidgin is programmed, but my thoughts are:
 does it is can have so much impact on the performance of a today computer
 to order some little icons (<8kB)?
 My little shitty application, written in visual basic and by an amateur
 programmer like me, does it without any problem or performance impact.

 Sometimes I get the impression that programmers get obsessed with
 performance and forget the usability.
