 Pidgin should notify new unread mail, but when I recieve any new email in
 Gmail for instance, I got no notification (with libnotify for instance
 here).

 I don't know if this is not implemented or not, but in the account
 management sub-section, there is a checkbox named "New name notification".

 To reproduce:
 Get a new email in Gmail.
 Expected behaviour:
 Having a Pop-Up notification on the desktop, containing the extract of the
 new mail.
