 I just looked into the json-glib requirement.  Unfortunately I don't think
 we'll be changing this.  We think it's unlikely that Debian Squeeze will
 upgrade to Pidgin 3.0.0 (or if they do, they can also upgrade their json-
 glib package).  And so we don't feel a need to accommodate this situation.

 Sorry for the inconvenience!  You could always build json-glib yourself or
 grab it from Testing/Wheezy.  Also, FYI, I just bumped the dependency up
 to json-glib 0.14.0.
