 Check for a program on your Lenovo computer called GuardedID.

 It is an "Anti-Keystroke" logger that grabs keyboard data from the device
 driver and delivers it to applications, bypassing the windows messaging
 queue. (This will sometimes cause the same problems in other applications,
 and appears to always cause the problem with GTK.)
