Comment:

 This split is already implemented for 3.0.0.

 However, I do not understand your statement "muddied waters of so many
 XMPP users in varied accounts". Pidgin is designed so that it does not
 matter what protocol your buddy is using, therefore this delineation is in
 fact relatively minor and would really only be apparent if in the Accounts
 window and if you enabled Protocol Icons.
